Term 1 Week 7

This term we are learning some amazing things in Year 6! Here are a few of the many wonderful things we are studying:
English: We are learning about prefixes, suffixes and etymology.
Maths: Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions as well as algebra.    
History: We are learning about the Fathers of Federation, Australia as a Nation and the Manga Carta.
Music: We are reciting Tika-Tis and Ti-Tikas on Thursday afternoons.
Sport: We are learning about and practising basketball on Thursdays.
Library: On Tuesdays (even weeks), we are learning about Greek and Roman Gods.
Did you know that the Ancient Romans believed in Gods, and there was usually a God for everything in their life?

Hi everyone
In Room 17, we are playing basketball. It's my opinion that basketball is very fun and healthy. Lately we have been playing games but Lizzie (the main coach) said at the end of the term we are going to play a real game. I like to think that I'm pretty good at basketball, so are my classmates. I'm looking forward to the basketball game and that my team wins. 
I am nervous and excited about for the Principal's Challenge or some people call it the Year Level Challenge. I have been practicing at home quite a bit and I hope I am going to get high results.Good luck to all the Year 6's on their Principal's Challenges!

Oh my goodness! Term 4 flew by! I cannot believe that this year is coming to an end.  From Camp in Week 4, to Graduation lunch in Week 7, straight to Graduation/Dance in Week 8, Swimming in Weeks 9 and 10, winning Principal's Challenge in Week 9 (Valiant effort Room 17!), then ringing the bell on the last day at Wattle Grove Primary School.  It has been an amazing year Room 17! I am so happy that I had the opportunity to learn with you through this adventurous year.  Remember  Dr Wayne W. Dyer : 'When given the choice between being right and being kind, CHOOSE KIND!' Greetings 2021 Year 6s!

Welcome to Room 17!      This term has already started out quite interesting but that's not going to stop us from having an outstanding year! I look forward to getting to know each and everyone one of you this year. I cannot wait to get started! Up Coming Deadlines and Events: Student Representative Speeches take place Week 1. We will have time in class to work on it but you may wish to practise at home. Friday, 12 February will be the Student Representative Assembly, where the Term 1 Student Representatives will be selected. Friday, 12 February will also be our Aussie Day Celebration. Wear your favourite Aussie attire (no thongs and school appropriate). Bring a gold coin to help the Lord Mayor's Bushfire Appeal. Criteria 1 - 3 for your Citizenship Portfolio are due Thursday, 4 March 2020 (this can be handed in digitally or hard copy). There will be sufficient time provided in class, if you use your time wisely you shouldn't have any additional homework.
